ABOUT MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY (MBCT)
All of us get our share of negative thoughts and emotions that can turn into negative patterns that impact our lives. If we’re not able to handle these patterns, they can affect our thinking, our motivation to act, and more often, our capacity to eat and sleep well. That is why training the mind to handle them eventually leads to a better handle on our life—and our work.
We offer Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy as a non-clinical course, not as a treatment.
MBCT is an evidence-based programme originally designed to help prevent the relapse of chronic depression. It was developed by Mark Williams, Zindel Segal and John Teasdale based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
FACILITATORS: Jason Gonzalez with Claire Gonzalez
Jason Gonzalez is a mindfulness facilitator, business leader and organisational development practitioner. With more than two decades of daily meditation practice, Jason has trained with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (Bangor University) and Oxford Mindfulness Centre to teach Mindfulness in non-clinical settings. He continues his professional development by annually engaging in masterclasses and summer schools run by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. He holds a diploma in teaching meditation. Jason Gonzalez is also a partner with Queen's University Belfast's William J. Clinton Leadership Institute in running The Mindful Leader programme.
Claire Gonzalez is one of the founding partners of The Happy Warrior. As a wellbeing specialist and a member of the Guild of Holistic Therapists, she designs and facilitates bespoke mindfulness programmes for the public. She trained to teach mindfulness in non-clinical settings with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and the Mindfulness in Schools Project. Claire is on the MBCT teacher training pathway with Oxford Mindfulness Centre.
